Overview of Inventory Organizations

                                                                                                                                                         Next: Organization Model

An inventory organization is a facility in your enterprise where you store and transact your inventory items. The items in an inventory organization can be in the form of raw materials, semi-finished goods, or finished goods for varying periods of time. Before you use Oracle Inventory, you need to define one or more inventory organizations.

Inventory organizations represent distinct entities in your enterprise and can be one of the following:
  • A physical entity such as a manufacturing facility, warehouse, distribution center, or a branch office.
  • A logical entity such as an item master organization, which you can use just to define items but no transactions.
