Before you use Oracle Inventory, you need to define one or more organizations. Organizations describe distinct entities in your company and may include separate manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, and branch offices. Since Oracle Inventory allows you to implement multiple ledgers with multiple organizations, you need to specify the ledger to which your organization is tied.
Caution: In a multi-organization install, when you are defining inventory organizations you MUST specify the Operating Unit even though the field is not required.
