Define Shortage Parameters

Concept

If you plan to use shortage messages, you must define demand sources and the individuals who will receive notification messages.


Procedure

1. Begin by navigating to the Shortage Parameters window.

 
3. Use the Organizations window to select the appropriate organization.

  
4. Use the Shortage Parameters window to set shortage parameters for your organization. 


5. Use the Work in Process tab to set the material shortage parameters for Work in Process.

6. When Check Shortages is enabled, the system includes in the material shortage check all jobs and schedules for which:
• The status is Released.  
• The scheduled start date is overdue.
7. Use the Jobs group to set shortage parameters for Jobs. 

8. When the Released option is enabled, the system includes in the material shortage check all jobs and schedules for which:
• The status is Released.
• The scheduled start date is overdue.
9. Released: Days Overdue is the number of days after the start date until the job is included in the material shortage check. Click in the Released: Days Overdue field.
 
10. Enter the desired information into the Released: Days Overdue field. 

11. When the Unreleased option is enabled, the system includes in the material shortage check all jobs and schedules for which:
• The status is Unreleased.
• The scheduled start date is overdue.
12. Unreleased: Days Overdue is the number of days after the start date until the job is included in the material shortage check. Enter the desired information into the Unreleased: Days Overdue field. 

13. When you enable the option If operation before assigned operation is due, the system includes in the material shortage check all discrete jobs with a current operation before an operation that has assigned open material requirements.

14. Use the Schedules group to set shortage parameters for schedules. 

15. Enter the desired information into the Released: Days Overdue field. 

16. Enter the desired information into the Unreleased: Days Overdue field. 

17. When you enable the If assigned operation is due option, the system includes in the material shortage check any repetitive schedule with a current operation that has open material requirements. 

18. When the Bulk Components option is enabled, the system excludes from the material shortage check all components with the supply type Bulk. Click the Bulk Components option.
 
19. When the Supplier Components option is enabled, the system excludes from the material shortage check any vendor-supplied components. Click the Supplier Components option.
 
20. In Notify region, select the  persons who will be notified for shortage:
  • Component Planner.
  • Assembly Planner.
  • Component Buyer.
  • Job/Schedule Creator.
21. In Order Entry tab, when Check Shortages is enabled, the system checks shortages for sales orders. A sales order is considered overdue when the pick wave move order is unfulfilled.  Click the Check Shortages option.

 
21. In Notify region, select the  persons who will be notified for shortage:
  • Item planner
  • Order creator
 
22. Click the Save button.
